Soundscape Paintings

Have you ever wondered what sound might look like?
Music composers and musicians frequently refer to colour in music.
So some time ago I wondered, why can’t I express music or at least sound visually.
As I expanded on this thought process I considered how would you explain common sounds to somebody who was totally deaf. Visually without being a cliché or icon.
A visual impression that would convey the feeling and experience of a sound, a soundscape. I imagine everybody’s reaction to a given sound is different, but I hope my impression of each sound still resonates with everyone.

Painting realistically is largely a matter of skill and patience. On the other hand, abstract painting is much more challenging, requiring much thought, frustration and usually takes much longer to complete.

Like my conceptual art these artworks are signed Johnot. The reason for that is; over the years I have produced hundreds of artworks, mainly as an illustrator, that are signed JNMason and I  wanted to distiguish my fine art works from my illustrations and realistic artwork.
